Freehub/Drivers are what the cassette is attached to, and this is attached to the hub with bearings and some sort of ratchet or pawl system to allow the cassette to freewheel when coasting, and then engage when you start pedaling.
Cassettes use different interfaces to attach to the freehub/driver. Just a few examples include SRAM XD, Shimano HG, Shimano Microdrive, and Campagnolo. Each one uses a unique spline interface to the cassette.
Each brand and model of hubs also uses its own freehub/driver to hub interface. If you need to change your freehub/driver, you will need to get the same brand and model. You cannot mix-n-match freehub/drivers from different brands. They will not work.
If you need help finding the correct freehub/driver, if you can please provide us with the exact Make, Model, Year, and any other details like serial numbers on the hubs. We can try and find what may work for you. : )
